Comprehensive Agricultural Plastic Waste Management

Befesa Plásticos provides Comprehensive Agricultural Plastic Waste Management of as part of a global service to agricultural export activities with a significant presence in the sector of greenhouse cultivation, as well as for the Public Administrations (Municipalities and Associations) interested in offering farmers the best solution, from a legal and environmental point of view, to manage this type of waste.

Befesa Plásticos guarantees proven traceability of all waste managed for its clients, issuing the corresponding recycling and/or elimination certificates which are essential for the agricultural industry due to the relevance of the quality and certification requirements for their products.

Our clients receive a maximum quality service provided by an authorised manager such as Befesa, which begins with the collection at the agricultural site or adapted transfer centre, and finishing with the recycling and/or elimination of the waste in strict compliance with applicable industry legislation.

Befesa offers, as opposed to other alternatives, the management of all plastic waste (roofing, mesh, irrigation tapes, droppers and others) as well as complementary management of non-valuable or hazardous waste generated in agriculture.

Comprehensive Agricultural Plastic Waste Management: Traceability Guarantee.

Waste collection
This process undertaken by Befesa at agricultural farming sites is done using octopus trucks, containers and other specific equipment for this task.

Conditioning
This process consists in pressing the plastic waste and adequately treating the other waste to enable its transportation and subsequent management. This is done on-site or at the adapted transfer centres specially designed for this purpose.

Transport
Once the material has been conditioned and depending on its nature, it is either taken to the Befesa Plásticos installations or the Befesa Gestión de Residuos Industriales (Befesa Industrial Waste Management) centres.

Recycling
The material (mainly green-house roofing film) received at Befesa Plásticos is recycled so it can be reused in the plastics market.

Non-valuable and other waste treatment:
The material that cannot be valued with current technology methods will be sent to different centres managed by Befesa Gestión de Residuos Industriales for adequate treatment.

Certification
Befesa issues certifications to all its clients regarding the treatment each type of waste has received, assuring the compliance with applicable environmental legislation regarding waste.

The waste management traceability guarantees the compliance with the ISO rules 9001: 2000 and ISO 22000: 2005 Food Safety Management Systems – Requirements applicable to food chain organisations and specifically, the minimum requirements regarding Good Agricultural Practice (GAP).
